Our mission at Birmingham Yoga is to support, strengthen and nurture the Birmingham Yoga Community through classes, teacher training, community partnerships and authentic personal connections.
Birmingham Yoga was founded by Akasha Ellis in 2009. Akasha began teaching in the Birmingham area in 2000 and was at the forefront of building the Yoga Community in Birmingham that you see today. Akasha began offering a Yoga Alliance certified 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program in 2005 and has trained countless teachers in Alabama and surrounding areas.
In 2017 Heather Sullivan joined forces with Akasha. Heather brings a light-hearted and compassionate approach to teaching as well as a desire to build a stronger, more diverse and self-aware community through studio partnerships with community non-profits such as Trini Foundation.
We truly feel grateful to serve and offer yoga to our community and our growing family of talented teachers in Birmingham. We look forward to sharing our love of yoga with you.
